“Why Banner Ads Suck!”

Online advertising is booming at the moment, but it is difficult to work out what the best strategies are, either as an advertiser, or as a publisher looking to derive advertising revenue. The field is changing rapidly, and this change is set to accelerate.

Roop is founder and CEO of Edgevertise, an exciting new online advertising technology. He has worked in business and information technology for over fifteen years. A passionate entrepreneur, this is his 3rd technology venture. He holds an MBA in Marketing and Master of Technology Management, and is currently undertaking a PhD in ‘Online User Engagement’ at the UQ Business School.

Roop will be joined by Sarang Pradhan (Edgevertise Investor and Product Evangelist) and they’ll take you through key elements of the Edgevertise product, explaining how this new form of advertising can deliver significantly greater returns for both online advertisers and web publishers when compared to most other online alternatives.

Monte Huebsch ‘The Google Guru’

Monte is the CEO of www.AussieWeb.com.au Local Search and www.AussiewebConversion.com, a Google Authorised Reseller. Monte, his team and company are AdWords Qualified Individuals and an AdWords Qualified Company. More importantly, Aussieweb Conversion was invited by Google to become the first Queensland Authorised Google Reseller and the 3rd in Australia.

Dr Mark Brown

Mark is a Senior Lecturer in Marketing at the UQ Business School. His expertise is in the areas of online advertising and promotion and Internet marketing strategy. He has published research papers in some of the leading advertising journals in the world including the Journal of Advertising and the Journal of Interactive Advertising. Mark’s research extends to incorporate online consumer behavior, customer retention strategies, sponsorship and cause-related marketing. He teaches Australia’s first and only online advertising university course and has taught digital marketing strategy courses extensively at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Mark has a background in the telecommunications industry and has been a consultant to several firms and government bodies in the areas of marketing communications and e-marketing.
